I have received numerous emails about “Proton Supercar” and ultra cheap Honda/Toyta/Nissan etc etc. Usually these emails are hoaxes and are sent out by someone with too much time in their hands and photoshopped some supercar photo with Proton’s badge.
The thing about this emails is that… most people actually believe it, and would go around proclaiming it to the rest of the world as it was the Gospel.
So I thought that it would be a fun thing to do to send out some pictures of a new car model and proclaim that it is a sub RM50K car. The car is nice, handsome and nice interior. I just filled in the blanks like 1.6 DOHC 16 Valve engine, 4-speed adaptive gearbox, 6 SRS airbags, ABS, EBD, VSC etc etc and sent it out to some of my koliks.
Lo and behold… the email spread like wild fire and within an hour or so, the email was back in my inbox. Calls began to come in, asking me about the car. Now, the thing is, they did not call me because I sent out the email, most of them called me cos I am kind of involved in the motoring industry… somehow.
*sigh*
What is it about people believing ANYTHING in their inbox?
Maybe I should send out an email with my bank account number, telling people that for each RM100 banked in, they will receive a coupon for a RM10 dinner discount voucher.
