I was in 1U on Friday and I notice a long queue. The first thing that came to my mind was… “Is there a sale??”

Then I began to wonder; is this last minute phenomenon attributed to the last minute attitude of Malaysians?
To me, we cannot put the blame solely on this attitude. Althought the last minute attitude is partly at fault, it just dawned upon me then, that the agency is at fault too. And not only the saman settlement, there are many other agencies which are to be blamed for this phenomenon.
Why? These agencies have not put in place, the convinience for the public to do their duties. Duties of paying their samans, filing their taxes and so on. If only they provide better access.

I do not understand why they are not able to put their stuff online, so that the general public will be able to check and pay online? There is nothing to stop them.
Small businesses already have their businesses online. Take a look at some of the local lelong sites. They have their online payment method, to check their outstanding amount. The same goes to other service companies like Astro, Telekom.. etc etc. Every month, their bills arrives on time. I check the figure, go online, make payment, case closed. Simple.
Most of the time, we have to take initiative to check if we owe them anything. A typical case is the tax department. I have to check my own stuff, file my own files, and make payment. My payment has not even been banked in!! And I paid several months back. To hell with those people who insist that it is the public’s DUTY. Then what are those people in the department doing? At least, process our files faster. Or at least set up more processing centres so that the public do not have to travel to some alien place and line up for hours on end.
Sad to say that we have to endure with this… erm… issue and probably live with it for… a long, long time.
