The Latest Addition

I wanted a long zoom lense for 1. Portrait and 2. Motorsports…. so I scouted around for several options for the lense. There are several options which includes the Canon EF 70-200mm F4L, Canon EF 70-300 F4-5.6 IS USM, Sigma 18-200mm, Sigma 28-300mm and the Sigma 70-300 APO DG.

I decided to go for the lower-priced Sigma 70-300. Why? My skills ain’t there yet, plus, the rest is out of my budget. AHAHA.

So, off I went to a shop in Mid Valley (dun quite like Sg. Wang as it is far, congested and the price difference ain’t much) and shopped around for it. Hunted high and low for it but most of the shops did not have stock. Only one shop has got stock for it. And after testing and all, I closed my eyes and took the leap. I bought it.

The lense came in a rather standard box.

But unlike the previous lense I got, this one came with its own pouch.

Which had rather good paddings.

This is the lense itself. It is not very heavy, but heavy enough to feel expensive. It is covered with low reflective material which not only gives it a rugged look, but it provides better grip.

This lense comes with a lense hood to prevent lense flare during photoshoots in bright locations.

This is how the lense looks like with the hood attached.

And finally my camera with the lense attached.

Oh… and I also bought a bag for my camera, two lenses as well as my external flash.

Unfortunately.. it is not big enough at all.. even just for my camera. So I had to remove all the inner compartment separators and manage to squeeze in my camera with the 50mm lense attached, and my flash.

The camera is actually pushing against the walls of the bag..

Looks like I am going bag hunting soon…

The Old and the New

I have been contemplating on getting a digital SLR camera for a very long time now. The only thing holding me back was money. A DSLR costs a bomb!! Which is why I got the Canon G5. That time, the ‘consumer’ version of the DSLR (namely the Canon 300D) has not been released yet. And the cheapest was the D60 which was… erm… about RM6K then.

When the sub 4K 300D was released, I was stuck with my G5…. until now.

I decided that it was time.. and I sold this..

and got this…

The Canon EOS D60.

Another pic of my D60 with the 420EX flash.

Only thing I need now is a wide angle zoom and a telephoto lense.
