Woah!!!
Long time did not update my blog. Was kind of tied up with work and off work stuff. hehe.
Let’s see…. what happened since I last blogged…
- I traded my aging Canon EOS D60 with the latest (but not so canggih) EOS 350D.
- Sleek and Sexy visited
- Sis in law’s dad passed away
- HUGE load of work to be done
My new Toy
Was twiddling with my D60 and noticed that it is getting really worned out, especially the mirror and lense mount. Then I sat back and recalled out heavy it was when I had to shoulder that thing along all day; it was REALLY heavy. Yeah… you compare the 350D and the D60 and you would say that the 350D has got that cheap feel to it. Mainly due to the fact that the 350D is about 400grams lighter than the D60 (with batteries and battery pack). But you will definitely prefer the 350D when you are on assignment or travelling.
I was still undecided as the D60 is made without compromising anything for the ‘consumer’ user. So anyway, I placed ads on several forums and online buy and sell sites. I also placed my crappy Sigma 17-35 lense up for sale. Was dry for the first two weeks. Then I reposted it again and then suddenly, two Mondays ago, several people called up regarding both camera body and lense.
Actually, someone was interested in the camera body the week before and wanted to meet up to view the camera. That bugger offered RM500 below market price. Blardy hell. But he promised to offer me a better price when we met up and viewed the camera. He did not show up at all. Bastard. Good thing I called to confirm our meet. He did not answer at all. When I threatened to sell the camera to a potential buyer I made up, he called and re-scheduled to 4pm that same day. He asked me to meet him at the same place at 4pm. I told him to call me when he is there. He never called.
Anyways, got RM100 deposit for the lense, and Rm50 for the camera on the same day. The guy who wanted to buy the lense said he will complete the deal by the end of the month, the camera guy completed the deal the very next day. Cool… and with the money I got, I bought the 350D.

the box

What’s in the box.
It came with the standard stuff.. the camera body, the 18-55mm ‘kit’ lense.. the strap.. battery.. charger.. some cables, manuals and CDs.

The camera sitting on the floor.

See how small the camera is. Very easy to hold and bring along all day. ehehehe…
how small compared to my previous D60?

This is the D60 with the Sigma 70-300mm lense.

this is the 350D with the same lense.
Ok lar.. the photos not the same and the D60 is with its battery pack, but still.. the 350D is very small.
Sunday… early in the morning I got a call from bro… sis in law’s dad passed away and he asked if I could fetch her down to Johor since he is about 250km away in kampung that time (I think he just reached kampung only when he called). Slenz was visiting that day and I had to put poor slenz at Mid Valley while I drove sis in law 300km down to Johor and 300km back up to KL again. *phew* long drive…
Anyways.. still itching to bring new toy out for a photo trip.
