For the past new year’s eve, I have stayed home. The reason being the traffic jams, crazy crowds and packed like sardines public transport. This year, cow called me up at 9.30pm. He wanted to go down to Ah Heng’s restaurant to hang out. The restaurant is situated right smack in the middle of all the action. So I thought.. well.. why not.
So I called up ITIS and checked traffic. Not too bad. However, the usual way was a little packed. So we took a slightly further route, but without traffic. At 9.50pm, we approached Bangsar.

Very good. Free flowing traffic. Both of us did not exclaimed joyously about the traffic. Quite ’suey’ to say things like that. The last time I mentioned how free flowing the traffic was, we ended up in a bumper to bumper crawl. Anyways, 10 minutes later we reached Bank Negara. We were rather lucky. As we passed the roundabout, the police started to close off that access.
*phew*
The crowd then was getting more and more.

3 minutes later, we took a wrong turn and ended up in Jalan Alor. Quite jam… with people!!

Anyways, we parked nearby and walked.

Cow always liked the ‘walking’ kind of shots. wahaha..

At that time, the crowd was only starting to gather. But of course, this was taken about 50 metres from where the main event was… at Lot 10/Sg. Wang. We were at the restaurant remember. After a while, it started to rain.

But the rain did not dampen the spirit of ushering in the new year. More people started flooding in.

This is Ah Heng.. or more widely known in online forums as bugger. Like him, 90% of the photos here I shot ‘from the hip’.

Here he is seen again ’shooting from the hip’

Meanwhile, there were a bunch of people dancing on the streets while awaiting countdown.

Then the count down began. I was not ready to get into the midst of all the action. Why? Because I was carrying around with me my DSLR. And I am definitely not ready to get it all soaked up by them foams.

As you can see from the above photo, they were foam happy. A good couple of feet above them heads were all whited out with foam beings sprayed overhead. You can feel the energy as they welcomed the new year with a bang!! Or lots of bangs when fireworks were displayed.

Many were rather excited about it.

Then the spraying started.

You get your hands on some cans, then you start spraying anyone and everyone. And if they see you with cans on your hands, they will douse you with foam.

Even bikes and cars were not spared.

THis one got away.. hahaha

And try not to get too much attention… like sitting on someone’s shoulder. You WILL get foamed.

And the foaming continues..

Now this girl is something else.. hahaha.

See the stance. Imagine replacing the spray cans with a handgun. Sebijik macam John Woo’s double gunned hero… dousing a group of people.

Uh-Oh… i think she sensed danger!!!!

Yeah… danger she sensed right.

PPPSSSHHHHH!!!!

Then Encik came.

But the foaming continued… hahaha.. right next to encik’s bike.
The foaming frenzy was still at it’s height when we decided we had enough. Not wanting to push our luck of not getting foamed too much. But Ah Heng.. hmm.. different story.

Well… at least not as bad as this guy..

Not wanting to be like him.. we left them to continue foaming each other up.
