You would have excuse me for the continued postings of black and white photos. Sudden ‘heng’ black and white photos after that documentary.

Something Black… Something White

June 10th, 2008 by kamkuey

I was watching this documentary on photographers a couple of nights back. It was rather disappointing, yet.. it proved to be rather interesting as well. We at this time and age seems to be bickering about… how many megapixels my camera has, how many bits of information, how many frames per second and how many focus points it has. We have totally lost touch with, how good a photograph is. Instead of concentrating on the end result, we concentrated on what we use to make that end result. Anyways, right now, it is like the pot calling the kettle black. As I too am guilty.

Back to the documentary, it tells stories of several photographers, mainly old school photographers with their noise ridden, off focus, and compositions which chops off people at weird areas. But still their photos (as well as their published photo books) are widely received. I must admit that some of the photos are really interesting, particularly one which caught my attention was the photo he took of a people waiting at a bus stop, each of them doing their own stuff. Very interesting. Makes me wonder if the scene was staged.

I was rather inspired by the documentary and brought out my cam, did some adjustments to emulate the black and white films. And the result..
