My Niece with the new AF-S 50mm f1.4

I did not get the chance to fully put the new AF-S 50mm f1.4 to test. Only test shots of stationary stuff and people who actually stop and pose for me to take a shot. Taking photographs of a 1.5 year old niece who seems to to have endless amount of energy as well as a tremendous curiosity is no easy task. So last weekend, parents were down here in KL and so was my uncle and aunty from Perth. So we went out for dinner and i took this opportunity to take some shots.
She now knows how to pose pose liao..

Can cat walk some more..

but only for a little while lar. After that attention gone liao. Focus on something else liao.

Then begin to make herself comfortable.

But bring out her fav, and she comes running to you.

And here are some shots of her with daddy…

… and mummy.

She seems to have unlimited energy. But most kids do. But I think her battery meter faulty liao. No indication of battery low. Her battery just go flat in an instant.

Verdict on the new lens? Loved it. The extra money spent is worth it. At least for me. Although a lot of online reviews states that images shot wide open are soft, I do not think so. It produces excellent sharp images for me wide open. Of course there are times when shots came out soft, it’s probably due to me breathing too hard and throwing it off focus. Anyways, let’s see if i have more time to do a quick review of the AF-S 50mm f1.4 with test photos.

In the mean time, have a good week ahead.

Nice shots there! the 50mm f1.4 is worth the money - great portrait lens. Great shots of the niece in her big cushy chair! especially like the one of her ‘relaxing’. nice light and sharpness too. notice you like a touch of vignetting. i kinda got hooked to adding edge darkening via lightroom to many of my pictures at one point. do continue to share more pics of your works with the 50mm.

[…] I’m linking up to two posts on this blog, the first of which is an “announcement” by the blog admin of his acquisition of a new 50/1.4G lens and some miscellaneous images, and the second, a set of family photos snapped with this lens mounted on the Nikon D700 (I know it’s the D700, because I’d met and chatted with the owner).
